Introduce yourself briefly.

Introduce yourself briefly.
My name is Johannes Fischbach. I ́m 32 years old and I’m a professional Mountainbike Downhill athlete.

When was your first contact with sport in general?

When was your first contact with sport in general?
As long as I can remember, I sat on bikes. I think my first Mtb (Cross Country) race was when I was only 6 years old. It was a very cold/rainy day and I had to race against kids, which were 2-3 years older than me because there was no category for my age group. I took 2nd place.

How did it progress from there?

How did it progress from there?
I think from there on I raced nearly every weekend. I was sitting on my bike every day at home and couldn’t wait until the next race came along.

What are you specialized in now and why?

What are you specialized in now and why?
I would say I’m specialized in doing a mix of everything. In my career, I did many different disciplines of bike racing. I started with Cross Country racing - which is more about endurance. Later I changed to Dual Slalom and 4 Cross racing where I was a Top 5 guy in the World. This sport was all about being explosive and fast for just a short time. The races was just about 25 - 35 seconds. In this time, I also did Bmx racing to try to go to the Olympics. In 2012 I changed to Downhill racing.

What are your goals for the future?

What are your goals for the future?
I had two really hard years with bad and long injuries. This Season I finally feel like I coming back to where I was previously. I’m just enjoying the time on the bike now. Of course I’m striving for great results at competitions.

Describe the feelings of a perfect sport day.

Describe the feelings of a perfect sport day.
A perfect sport day for me is when I have enough time for my training. No stress and no other appointments. I feel like the older I get, the less time I have. Nowadays, it ́s not that easy anymore for us athletes. You have to do a lot for media stuff, especially social media. This sometimes steals important time. So for me a perfect day is when I just have enough time for my sport.

Describe the feelings of being “in the zone”

Describe the feelings of being “in the zone”
Ufff... not easy to describe. I love to be „in the zone“- but it ́s not always that easy to achieve. My feeling of being „in the zone“ is: everything is just clear and quiet. Like a real strong concentration. You feel strong and are not scared of anything.

Tell us a little bit about your work/daily life.

Tell us a little bit about your work/daily life.
My daily life is more or less all about the sport. A normal day starts with some stretching after I had breakfast. After that, I check my emails and do some work on the computer. Before lunch, I have my first training session. Than after lunch I have a rest period of 2-3 hours, which I use to do some work around my farm (building tracks, cutting grass, etc. - there is always a lot to do) And before the evening I do another training session.

How did you get in contact with Creapure®?

How did you get in contact with Creapure®?
I had a meeting with our athlete manager at a big sports expo. That was the first time we talked about it. I think I was a good fit for the Creapure® athlete program right from the start, because I already had a reputation as a professional and well-trained bike athlete. I had already been using Creapure® for years as part of my diet - so I was already familiar with the brand and its quality.

How do you use it? In general and in detail?

How do you think you will look back on the 2020 season? More positive or negative?

How do you think you will look back on the 2020 season? More positive or negative?
I will look back on the 2020 season for sure. I will remember it as a short, but at the same time long season. Short, because we just had a handful of races. Long, because we always had to stay fit and in shape not knowing when and if the races will happen. From the sport point of view definitely positive! I just had a top 10 result at the most important race of the year – a 9th place at the world championships.

Top 10 at the World Champs in Leogang with a broken shoulder; how did you manage this?

Top 10 at the World Champs in Leogang with a broken shoulder; how did you manage this?
It was hard. I was just back on pace and feeling fit and strong when the first races started again. I had a preparation race in French, where I wanted to check how my speed was in comparison to the best riders in the world. At this event, I had a crash and broke my shoulder blade. I could not believe it. I thought it was already over again with the most important races yet to come. It was 4 weeks until World Champs. I didn’t want to give up, because I had been working so hard to come back. So i tried to do everything to heal as fast as possible. Until the very first day of training at the world championships, I could not even ride a Downhill Bike because the pain was still too much. Right there, I had to give it a try. It was a super tough week (mentally and for my body). I was just so happy when I made it to the finish line in one piece. And then it was a Top 10.

Thank you Creapure® for the support over the last years. Without the support, it wouldn’t have been possible to reach goals like this.
